惟雯說故事
清朝，在蘇州閭門有一位叫徐受天的人。有一天他上街訪友，卻被迎面急來的一個挑糞人給撞著了，還潑灑了他一身的髒糞。
徐受天很想發火，並要他賠償衣服和鞋子，但隨即想到挑糞的人，家境一定貧窮，怎能要求他什麼。於是忍受著身上的臭氣，想轉身離開。
沒想到，那挑糞人居然憤恨的反過來大罵徐受天，說是他橫行在道路上，害他的糞桶撞翻，對他咆哮、且指著他又打又罵。
徐受天極力忍受著，急忙擺脫後逃竄而去。
挑糞人還怒不可遏的在後面追罵他，連圍觀的人都為徐受天大抱不平。
徐受天狼狽又臭熏熏的回到家裡，換了衣服盥洗完畢，妻子兒女也埋怨著，認為這真是倒楣、又不祥的兆頭，徐受天自己也憤憤不平的悶悶不樂。
當晚半夜時，突然聽到外面的貓、狗都在狂叫，還有急促的呼叫聲。
這三更半夜的，誰會這樣呼叫呢？
於是，他趕緊披上衣服開門查看。
一看嚇了一跳，竟然是白天遇到的挑糞人！
只見那挑糞人陰冷冷的站在他家門外。
徐受天不悅說道：「你白天撞了我，弄了我一身髒，我都沒要你賠。你追打我，我一再忍辱避讓。你居然還敢深更半夜跑到我家門口來找麻煩？」
挑糞人冷冷的說：「我前世與你結有冤仇，這世時機因緣成熟，見面就份外憎恨，我本當命喪你手，因你白天對我的『忍辱避讓』，我們『仇恨的因緣』已經錯過了。我的壽命已盡，但我家中非常貧困，無棺殮葬。如果你能幫我入土為安，那我們的仇怨就可完全化解了。如果您還能周濟一下我的妻兒，我一定會報答你的恩德。」
挑糞人把姓名和住的地方告訴了他後，就跪地痛哭起來，然後瞬間就消失不見了，只剩一陣陰風與狗的吠叫聲。
徐受天很驚駭。
天亮後，急著按照挑糞人說的地方前去尋訪，才得知，挑糞人在白天追打他後，回到家突然就死去了。
一切果然都如挑糞人說的一樣。
徐受天於是幫忙殮葬了他，並給他的兒子十兩銀子，教導他如何做小買賣，協助他成家立業，並孝順奉養他的母親，挑糞的一家人，得以安定和樂的過著比以前更好的生活。
徐受天後來經商致富，而且更成為地方的首富，子女都非常亨通顯達。
後來他回想此事時說：「我受到挑糞人的羞辱與打罵，如果忍不了一時之氣，盛怒之下和他爭吵衝突，因緣定好報前世之仇，那挑糞人必將死在我手中，那事情就麻煩了。他死後我就變成凶手了。我肯定被報官償命，那我一定已經在刑場被判死刑了。」
人生中遇到的任何事都絕非偶然。
無緣無故的各種橫逆，都是我們在前生前世，所造成的因果。
所以，當遇到無理取鬧之人，能夠多一些忍辱避讓，就能像徐受天那樣，化解和避過更大的災禍或種下更大的福報。
不然冤冤相報，循環往復，何時才能出離苦海啊！
