黑曜石又名天然琉璃，它的形成是因為火山熔岩迅速地冷卻凝結而成。黑曜石是一種常見的寶石，被稱為“黑金剛武士”，極度辟邪，又能強力化解負能量。
一、黑曜石的獨特功效
自史前時代以來，黑曜石一直被用來製作工具、面具、鏡子和珠寶，且這種天然玻璃的鋒利碎片也被製成刀刃、箭頭和匕首等武器。
除了這些實際用途，從文化意義上講，黑曜石還有其獨特的功效：
1、護身辟邪
黑曜石的能量非常剛烈、強勁，辟邪效用最佳，隨身佩戴黑曜石是最好的護身符、辟邪物。
2、鎮宅祈福

黑曜石是一種天然玻璃，屬於非純晶質的水晶寶石。黑曜石通常呈黑色，但是也有可見棕色、灰色和少量的紅色、藍色甚至綠色的黑曜石。
黑曜石有可能是全部單色、或有條紋、或有斑點，最有名的是有彩虹閃光的彩虹黑曜岩（ Rainbow Obsidian），並且有些條文呈橢圓形狀，就形成俗稱的單眼黑曜或者是雙眼黑曜石了，而如果以價格來看，彩虹單眼黑曜及彩虹雙眼黑曜是價格最高的，因為除了產量較為稀少之外，品相也相當的漂亮喔。
墨西哥產的黑曜石在經過打磨拋光成圓球狀後，可發現在圓球的對稱兩側有不同層次的光環，俗稱天地眼。
黑曜石可產生強大的能量，來抵抗低靈及負面能量，亦可結界，保護居所。
能使人的週期及能量穩定；有助於潛意識的開發；能夠平衡腦部的化學分泌系統；可使人冷靜，並因此而得到靜心思考的能力，以開發大智慧中的組織力；可改善及調整人際關係；能夠平衡極端的能量，像是極陰與極陽。

黑瑪瑙尤其具有強大的投射能量，其黑色的作用除了可以吸收負能量外，也可因為其光滑的鏡面而將負能量反射回去，因此在做為結界來說具有強大效力。
另外，黑瑪瑙是最有可能被仿製的，大多仿製的黑瑪瑙是由一般的瑪瑙經過染色所製作的，因為瑪瑙的空隙較大，可以利用加熱滲透的方式做成仿製的黑瑪瑙，不僅是黑瑪瑙，許多瑪瑙也大多是這樣的方式做成的，純色系的瑪瑙並不多見，而大多的瑪瑙大多是灰灰的。
而黑碧璽很少會有拋光的，黑曜石的天地眼更不容易做，幾乎是做不到。
三、黑曜石手鏈的日常保養
黑曜石以其相對低廉的價格被大眾所接受。很多人都喜歡佩戴黑曜石飾品，即使是年青的女孩，也時常對帥氣的黑曜石手鏈情有獨鍾。
有些人以為黑曜石手鏈太低檔根本不要保養，其實黑曜石屬於天然琉璃，也需要日常的保養照顧。
黑曜石手鏈不佩戴時的保養方法如下﹕
1、避免與硬物碰撞。
黑曜石的硬度雖高，黑曜石的主要成分是二氧化矽，與玻璃相同，所以，黑曜石手鏈在佩戴時不可與金屬硬物碰撞和摩擦，否則會出現劃痕，嚴重的會破裂，大大損害其完美度和經濟價值。。
2、盡可能避免灰塵。
日常黑曜石若有灰塵的話，宜用軟毛刷清潔;若有污垢或油漬等附于黑曜石，可以用柔軟的布擦拭。切忌使用化學除油污劑液。
3、 不用時要放妥。最好是放進首飾袋或首飾盒內，以免擦花或碰損。
4、儘量避免與香水、化學劑液、肥皂和人體汗液接觸。
5、佩戴一段時間建議用清水浸泡，因為它吸收了人體的負能量，需要清洗一下。可以在清水中加一些海鹽。如果黑曜石手鏈需要清洗，最好用純淨水，如需淨化，可以置於純淨水中24小時。
6、 要用清潔、柔軟的白布抹拭，不宜使用染色布、纖維質硬的布料。
7、沐浴時要注意取下黑曜石手鏈，因為有些人喜歡用硫磺皂洗澡，硫磺會破壞黑曜石表面的光澤。在廚房烹煮食物時最好也將黑曜石手鏈取下，遠離高溫和低溫。
四、佩戴黑曜石最大禁忌的是什麼？
黑曜石是極度辟邪的，有時候佩戴不好的話，不僅達不到預期的效果，相反的會帶來反作用。而且佩戴黑曜石也是有技巧的。下面是關於黑曜石的佩戴技巧及應忌諱的方面:
1、佩戴黑曜石的時候盡量還是戴在右手上，穿一顆掛在脖子上磁場能量會降低，洗澡盡量不要佩戴，睡覺時佩戴有助於睡眠。
2、黑曜石極度辟邪，能強力化解負能量，中國古代的佛教文物中，就有相當多有關於鎮宅或避邪的黑曜石聖物或佛像。
