在與眾不同的背後，往往是一些不足與外人道的辛苦。
1902年，27歲的詩人里爾克應聘去給62歲的畫家、雕塑大師羅丹當助理，在初出茅廬的詩人的猜想中，名滿天下的羅丹一定過著十分浪漫、瘋狂、與眾不同的生活。
然而，他看到的真實景象與想像中的大相逕庭，羅丹竟是一個整天孤獨地埋頭于畫室的老人。
里爾克問他：“如何能夠尋找到一個要素，足以表達自己的一切？”羅丹沉默片刻，然後及其嚴肅地說：“應當工作，只要工作。還要有耐心。”
是什麼讓某些人變得與眾不同？我覺得羅丹說出了真正的秘密，那就是：「工作，和足夠的耐心。」
又如當代西方學者中，英國的尼爾•弗格森是公認的“神童”，他的研究領域橫跨歷史學、經濟學與政治學三界，不到30歲就被牛津大學聘為研究員，40歲時被《時代》週刊評為“影響世界的一百人”。
可是他的勤奮又是非常人能比的，為了寫作《羅斯柴爾德家族》一書，他和助理們翻閱了羅氏家族百年以來的上萬份原始資料。
年輕的時候，我們總想一夜成名，張愛玲說過的，「出名要趁早，來得太晚的話，快樂也不那麼痛快。」這句話真的耽誤了很多少年人。
其實，你如果把人生當成一次馬拉松長跑的話，在前一千米是否跑在第一名真是一件那麼重要的事情嗎？
我身邊有著很多與眾不同的傑出人物——至少在世俗的意義上是這樣，他們都有一個共同的特質，那就是全心全意地投入於自己的工作中。
因為與眾不同的東西，往往在製造的過程中是枯燥的、重複的和需要耐心的。所以，在與眾不同的背後，往往是一些不足與外人道的辛苦。
必須簡單地做一件事情，漫長地做一件事情。
在流傳至今的明清瓷器中，有犀皮斑紋的是最昂貴的，幾乎一器難求。在很長的時間裡，人們甚至不知道它是由哪些天才製作出來的。後來，王世襄終於在他的書中把秘密洩露了出來，它的製作過程是這樣的——
工匠製作犀皮，先用調色漆灰堆出一顆顆或者一條條高起的地子，那是“底”;在底上再刷不同顏色的漆，刷到一定的厚度，那是“中”和“面”了;等乾透了再磨平拋光，光滑的表面於是浮現細密和多層次的色漆斑紋。
所以，每一件與眾不同的絕世好東西，其實都是以無比寂寞的勤奮為前提的，要麼是血，要麼是汗，要麼是大把大把的曼妙青春好時光。

Today, I went to the beach front with my kids.
