美國總統奧巴馬上任後不久，就離開芝加哥老家，偕妻子蜜雪兒和兩個女兒入住白宮。
面對多家媒體的採訪，奧巴馬深情地表示，他非常喜歡位於芝加哥海德公園的老房子，等任期滿了之後，他還會帶著家人回去居住的。
這個消息可讓比爾高興壞了，因為他是奧巴馬的老鄰居。
幾年前，比爾曾經和人打賭，他信誓旦旦地說自己到了2010年，一定會成為百萬富翁，眼看期限只剩1年了，他的目標還遠未實現。
現在，機會終於來了。他的房子因奧巴馬而身價百倍。
能和全世界最著名的人物之一——美國總統奧巴馬做鄰居，這是多麼難得的事情呀！
因此，他滿懷希望地將自己的房子交給仲介公司出售。
為了推銷自己的房子，比爾還特意建了一個網站，全方位介紹他的住宅：這幢豪宅擁有17個房間，近600坪米，非常實用舒適。
更重要的是，奧巴馬曾經多次來此做客，還在他家的壁爐前拍過一個競選廣告。
這是一棟已經被載入史冊的房子！
比爾相信，有了這些賣點，他的房子一定能賣出300萬美元以上的高價。
不出所料，這個網站很快就有幾十萬人點擊瀏覽，然而，讓比爾跌破眼鏡的是，關注房子的人雖多，但沒有一個人願意購買。
到底是什麼原因讓買家們望房卻步呢？
為了弄明白究竟是怎麼回事，比爾仔細地查看了網站上的留言。
原來，大家擔心買了他的房子之後，就會生活在嚴密的監控之下。
是呀，奧巴馬和他的妻女雖然都去了白宮，但這裡依然有多名特工在保護奧巴馬的其他家人，附近的公共場合也都被密集的攝像頭所覆蓋。只要出了家門，隱私權就很難得到保護。
更要命的是，等奧巴馬屆滿回來之後，各路記者肯定會蜂擁而至。
那時，鄰居們的生活必將受到更嚴重的干擾。到那時，每天出入這裡，恐怕都將受到保安和特工像對待犯人那樣的檢查和盤問。
這樣的居住環境，跟在監獄又有什麼區別呢？就連朋友們，估計也會因為怕麻煩而不敢上門！
就這樣，過了1年多，房子依然沒賣出去。
比爾非常心焦，他此前向家人承諾過，房子賣出後就全家一起去度假，但一直到現在還不能兌現諾言。他和朋友打的賭也眼看就要輸了。
正在這時，一個叫丹尼爾的年輕人找到了他。
丹尼爾告訴比爾想買房的原因，他和奧巴馬一樣，都有黑人血統。
奧巴馬是他的偶像，不過，他還從未和奧巴馬握過手。
如果他買下這裡，就有機會見到總統了。
房子終於有買主了，比爾激動得差點掉淚。
雖然丹尼爾非常願意買比爾的房子，但問題是，他支付不起太多的錢。
比爾好不容易遇到一個買主，當然不願輕易放過，他作出了很大的讓步，最後，兩人簽下了如下協議：
丹尼爾首付30萬美元，然後每月再付30萬，5個月內共付清140萬美元，房子則在首付款付清後，歸丹尼爾所有。
比爾很高興，雖然房子的最終售價遠遠低於當初他期望的300萬，但20多年前，他買下此房時，只花了幾萬美元，因此還是賺了，何況，上了年紀的他早想落葉歸根，搬回鄉下的農莊了。
拿到首付款後，比爾給丹尼爾留下了自己的帳號，然後帶著家人出去旅遊了。
出發那天，他得知丹尼爾將房子抵押給銀行，貸了一筆款。
等半個多月後回來，比爾發現丹尼爾竟將這棟豪宅改造成了幼稚園。
原來，丹尼爾本來就是一家幼稚園的園長，因此，在這裡辦個幼稚園不是難事，當房子的用途從居住改為幼稚園之後，那些過於嚴密的監控就顯得很有必要，這個毗鄰奧巴馬老宅的幼稚園，成了全美最安全的幼稚園，不少富豪都願意把孩子送到這裡來。
為了給幼稚園做推廣，丹尼爾還聯繫到了不少名人來給園裡的孩子們上課。
這些名人中有不少是黑人明星，他們為奧巴馬感到驕傲，也為能給奧巴馬隔壁的幼稚園講課而激動，再加上這裡是記者們時刻關注的地方，來這裡與孩子們交流，自然能增加曝光率，因此，名人們都很樂意接受丹尼爾的邀請。
第一個月，丹尼爾用收到的首期學費輕鬆地支付了比爾30萬。
幼稚園開張兩個月後，奧巴馬抽空回老家轉了一圈，順便看望了一下他的新鄰居們，這一下，丹尼爾幼稚園更加有名。
越來越多的名人主動表示願意無償來與孩子們交流。
更有很多家長打電話，想讓自己的孩子來此受教育，為此多付幾倍的學費他們也樂意。
很多廣告商也開始爭先恐後地聯繫丹尼爾，他們想在幼稚園的外牆上做廣告，這裡的曝光率實在太高了，不做廣告太可惜了。
為此，丹尼爾打算進行一次拍賣廣告牆的活動，想來參加競標的品牌很多，但像煙、零食、酒這樣的廣告，無論出多少錢，丹尼爾都不允許他們參加競標。
5個月後，比爾就收齊了140萬美元的房款，終於在2010年年末如願以償地成了百萬富翁。
不過，比爾明白，這場交易中，最大的贏家並不是自己，而是奧巴馬的新鄰居——幼稚園園長丹尼爾。
