取捨需要更大勇氣

捷克有個名叫齊克的年輕人，酷愛登山；18歲時，就和同伴一起攀登上歐洲第一高峰–白朗峰。
後來，他們又再接再厲，先後成功登頂9座海拔超過4000米的歐洲山峰。
當歐洲已不能滿足他們的征服慾望時，他們把目光瞄準了世界第一高峰–珠穆朗瑪峰。
攀登珠穆朗瑪峰需要申請簽證與批文，而且對運動員的申請條件和資格也比較嚴，於是齊克求助於他擔任國際登山者協會常務理事的父親；齊克在電子郵件中對父親說：「作為一名登山運動員，沒有征服珠穆朗瑪峰，就不算成功。」
不久，齊克收到父親的回覆；他父親在信中給他講了一個故事：
「法國一家報紙曾舉辦過一次智力競賽，問如果羅浮宮失火，當時情況只可能救一幅畫，那麼你會救哪一幅？多數人都說要救傳世之作–蒙娜麗莎的微笑；可是著名作家貝爾特卻說：『我要救離出口最近的那幅畫。』結果，貝爾特以最佳答案贏得金獎。」
看著父親的信，齊克陷入沉思。
他讀懂了這個故事的含義，父親想告訴他，奔向成功的最佳目標不是最有價值的那個，而是最有可能實現的那個；憑心而論，以他們這幫登山運動員當時的實力和裝備，征服珠穆朗瑪峰的可能性非常微小；與其光靠一腔熱情做沒希望的事，不如先踏踏實實的奔向能夠實現的目標。
於是，他對其他三個伙伴說：「我覺得我們應該先試著征服奇力馬扎羅山，不一定非要一步登天。」
他的建議遭到了同伴的鄙夷與不屑，被同伴奚落為「目光短淺、胸無大志者」。
結果大家不歡而散，分道揚鑣。
此後幾年，齊克先後征服了海拔5895米的奇力馬扎羅山和海拔6893米的鹽泉峰，被國際登山者協會吸收為理事，還被任命為捷克國家登山隊的副教練。
2008年初，齊克再次實現了突破，在沒有後援的情況下，成功登上了海拔8172米的世界第七高峰–道拉吉里峰。
回來後，齊克隨手翻看報紙，到處都是關於他本次登山的報導和圖片，對此，齊克已經習以為常；然而，當他看到「捷克探險報」上一則消息時，立刻驚呆了。
與齊克登上道拉吉里峰的幾乎同一時間，另外三名攀登珠穆朗瑪峰者不幸遇難，在海拔8300米處墜崖身亡。
沒錯，他們正是齊克以前的登山伙伴。
2008年6月，齊克朝著他的最高目標珠穆朗瑪峰進發，憑借嫻熟的技巧和豐富的經驗，他一步一步的朝前攀登，直達海拔8500米處。站在珠穆朗瑪峰峰頂，齊克不禁想到了長眠於山底的同伴，百感交集：「自己一度是被他們看低的人，但卻達到了他們沒有達到的高度。」
這個故事給我們一個啟示：人生就像登山，選擇什麼，放棄什麼，是一門藝術，有時放棄就是得到；如果只盯住最高的目標，到頭來的結果，可能是跌入萬劫不復的深淵。
從最有可能實現的目標入手，一路攀登，一路追逐，當你有一天站在最高峰的時候，你會發現，一切都是水到渠成。
