春秋時期，管仲輔佐齊桓公，使齊國強盛。
管仲臨終時，齊桓公向他討教將來有誰可以代替管仲治理國家？
齊桓公心中屬意易牙、豎刁、開方這三個人選皆對他忠心耿耿。
易牙曾經把自己的兒子蒸了，做成菜給齊桓公享用；
豎刁把自己閹割，變成宦官來服侍齊桓公；
開方本是衛國的公子，放棄衛國儲君不做，而到齊國侍奉齊桓公15年，即使是親爹病故，也不回家看一眼。
但管仲說，若一個人連自己、和自己的至親都不愛，又怎麽會真心愛護國君呢？管仲請齊桓公一定要遠離這三個人。
管仲死後，齊桓公不聽忠諫，終究還是重用了這三個人。
結果，齊桓公晚年這三人作亂，齊桓公就在宮中活活餓死。
一個人生性薄涼，對親情淡漠，做人鐵石心腸、冷酷無情，這樣的人，切切不可深交！
