這背後是有個洋蔥的故事：
這是屬於一個來自布法羅，一個猶太家庭的美國窮男孩的故事，
他得到了哥倫比亞大學的獎學金。
在哥倫比亞大學，他和一個男孩，他的室友，成為了好朋友。
但是在他大學一年級的時候，在看一場棒球比賽中，突然，他看不見了！
不知怎麼回事，他失明了。
醫生說是結膜炎，會好的。
但是他並沒有好轉，白內障損害了他的視覺神經。
男孩雙目失明，精神鬱抑，遂輟學回到家鄉。
他的朋友，他的室友，去他的家鄉，說服他回到大學。
朋友對他說：黑暗會陪着你，但是我會是你的光。
這位朋友開始全方面幫助他。
他幫他讀了書，陪著他考試！
這個盲人最終以法律學位畢業，然後在哈佛獲得了碩士學位，
又在牛津獲得了博士學位。
他成爲一名知名的律師，並成爲白宮的顧問。
他曾是傑拉德‧福特和吉米‧卡特等美國總統的國家顧問。
這是一個克服逆境的真實感人故事，也展示了真正友誼的價值。
這是桑迪‧格林伯格的一生。
但是回到1964年，幫助他畢業的室友，西蒙和加芬克爾二人組向桑迪借了400 美元。他們需要錢發行唱片。
桑迪把錢借給他了。
這張唱片於1964年發行，成爲最受歡迎的歌曲之一。
