美國芝加哥有一位羅伊正醫師（MichaelRoizen）帶領一群內科醫師、流行病學家、營養專家，從2萬5千份研究報告中，先挑出其中較為人所熟知的800個研究，然後抽絲剝繭整理出老化的指標，簡化成簡單的「真實年齡」（RealAge）的測驗，此書在美國已成為暢銷書。
此書中，他們發現其中有126個生活習慣會影響健康，且人們從日復一日所做的事情中，決定出了他（她）的「真實年齡」。這些習慣包括你我皆知的不抽菸、多運動、保持血壓在120╱80毫米汞柱以下……等。
