美國新澤西州著名獸醫莫莉對動物的觀察所得，她勸告人應該向動物學習——如果想健康長壽的話﹕
狗———
狗給我們的啟示是：不幸的事快快拋開，永遠從美好的一面看人生。
“不管遭受過如何慘痛的欺淩虐待，狗都很快把痛苦的經歷拋於腦後，熱烈地享受眼前一刻的生命，細嚼著找到的每一根骨頭，或者在公園裏快活地奔跑。”
貓——
貓的處事態度是：隨遇而安，從不會為明天擔憂。
“貓從不為任何事發愁。如果感到焦慮不安，即使只是最輕微的情緒緊張，它都會去睡一覺，讓焦慮消失。”
鳥——
它教導我們要懂得忙裏偷閒，享受生命。
“即使最忙碌的鳥兒也會經常停下來，停在樹枝上歌唱，當然，這可能是雄鳥在求偶或雌鳥在應和。不過，我相信它們大部分時間只是為了生命的存在和活著的喜悅而歡唱。”……
事實上，“不管是家裏的貓狗，還是非洲草原上的獅子，它們都擁有以下的共同特點：睡眠充足，肚子餓的時候才進食，永遠不會為昨天的事懊悔，也不會為明日的事擔憂。 ＂
如果人類的生活態度像它們一樣，必定健康長壽得多。所以，人應向動物學習。這確是一項很有意思的發現，從而進一步開闊了人的視野。
人，如果真的能放下人的“架子”和“面子”，而虛心拜動物為師，肯定會活得更開心，更瀟灑，更健康，更長壽一些。
事實上，發生在人身上的種種有悖健康長壽的“癌細胞”——諸如想不開，心不順，憂鬱、煩惱、失眠、食欲不振……也就是沒有好好地拜動物為師之故，從而給自己帶來許許多多的胡思亂想，貪慾，燥動，以及提心吊膽，等等。
當然，向動物學習，不僅僅是為了健康長壽，更在於為了每一天都過得快樂。以往人們認為「人定勝天」，導致野生棲息地被破壞，原始林遭濫伐，高山可以起高樓，造成今天如「八八水災」的浩劫。所以人定勝天的觀念似乎到了要徹底檢討修正的時候了。
彭懷真教授也認為人應「拜動物為師」。換句話說，我們應敬天、順天、護天（大自然）才對。也就是人應以大自然為師。
人生停、看、聽……

這讓我們好好反省：我們是否已具備這樣的基本功？
