道德勇氣

想想看，歷史上有哪一個美國領導人曾經被人家罵作“偽君子”、“大騙子”、“只比謀殺犯好一點點”呢？
有一次，報紙上有一幅漫畫，畫著他站在斷頭臺上，那把大刀正準備把他的頭砍下來。
有一次，在他騎馬從街上走過的時候，一大群人圍著他又叫又罵。
他是誰呢？
不錯，他就是美國的國父—-喬治.華盛頓。
當然，這不是說，如果有一天你要是被人家踢了，或者是被別人惡意批評的話，您就可以當美國的國父。
一、《道德的勇氣》
作家羅家倫曾在其《道德的勇氣》書中舉了一個例子—-
羅家倫寫他在費城觀看歷史名劇《林肯》，久久不能入睡。
他看到，林肯被推舉為共和黨總統候選人，黨代表團來訪，告訴他肯定會當選，因為民主黨內部分裂。
林肯聽了之後，沉思良久，方才答應。
代表團走了之後，林肯凝視壁上美國地圖許久，然後獨自跪在地圖前祈禱。
這裡，呈現了一個偉大領袖的人格—-肩負責任的道德勇氣。
二、做個正直、不鄉愿的人
在職場工作，也是需要具備道德勇氣的，否則，往往明知是不對的事情，往往會因為鄉愿妥協，而姑息養奸。
例如，有位大家都覺得非常不適合擔任主管的同仁，有一天在經營會議裡，CEO覺得這個人感覺很不錯，就詢問當場所有主管的意見，有些人贊同，也有人內心持反對意見，卻由於不想得罪人、做壞人，用「尊重大家的意見」來表達自己的看法。
職場上我們也常常面臨到很多「明知不對」的事情，可是在當下因為內心欠缺德勇氣去提醒與告知，讓錯的事或人積非成是，事情發展的結果可能對企業文化的傷害很大，所以，由時候必要的「道德的勇氣」在關鍵時後還要被發揮出來，這才能對得起自己的良心與企業。
事實上，如果一件不對的事，但是因為自己沒有道德勇氣提醒老闆，不敢提出諫言，這就是失職，也對不起自己的良心；當然，除了具備「道德的勇氣」外，也要學習與老闆的溝通技巧。
三、破例一次是沈淪的起點
在1995年，年僅26歲的霸菱銀行新加坡部門首席交易員李森（Nick Leeson），因為投機交易，致使這家有200多年基業的英國投資銀行出現13億美元虧損。東窗事發之後，霸菱銀行就此倒閉。
李森事後談到自己說，他一開始只是誤判市場行情，但他不願認賠出場，又接連賭了好幾把，沒想到，每次都押錯籌碼。於是他偽造帳冊，誤導稽核人員，企圖瞞天過海，才會踏上這條毀滅之路。
這個事件的起點只是一個交易員犯了一個錯，不想讓上司知道，沒想到竟使一家有233年歷史的銀行倒閉。案發後，李森逃往歐洲，最後在德國被捕。李森最後因詐欺被判刑，被判在新加坡監獄服刑六年半，妻子也跟他離婚了。
在李森最初做決定時，完全想不到自己會一手促成這麼大的災難。
因為很多人都相信自己真的只是一次妥協，下不為例。這條不歸路的起點總是一個非常小的決定。
有時候，很多人不能了解無法堅持原則—「破例一次」可能必須付出的代價有多大？
當你放棄自己的原則，破了一例，以後，你就會覺得這樣其實也沒什麼，而讓你一再地破例。你只要妥協一次，暫時放下自己的原則，往往就無法回頭。只有等你走到盡頭，你才會後悔。
這就是我學到的一課：百分之百堅守原則，要比百分之九十八來得容易。如果你意識到第一步就有問題，有違原則，那就不要猶豫，請立刻回頭，轉身離去。
四、跋
“有肚量去容忍那些不能改變的事，有勇氣去改變那些可能改變的事，有智慧去區別上述兩類事。”這就是成功者要具備的三個素質。
當然，如果因為自己的承擔了「道德勇氣」，而讓你受到別人不公正的批評時，請記住：不要在意不公正的批評，自古英雄那個不是毀譽參半……，勇敢地去做對的事吧！
