天人交戰的抉擇
惟雯說故事
這是一則真實的故事﹕
在南非東倫敦一個偏遠小鎮上，有一對黑人夫婦。
男人叫喬治，女人叫海倫。喬治在小鎮北部的農場幹活，每天早出晚歸。海倫因為懷了孩子，便待在家裡安胎。
這天，喬治像往常一樣開著吉普車出了門。農場離家有50多公里，中途要經過一段長長的山道。這段山道崎嶇難行，並且周圍也沒有村莊，荒無人煙。
喬治開著車在山道上慢慢行駛著，突然兜裡的手機響了。
“喬治，快回家……我，我肚子疼得要命，我們的孩子可能要早產了……”
聽到妻子的話，喬治立刻慌了神。他們的家地處偏僻，連個鄰居都沒有，離鎮醫院又遠，這可怎麼辦？
上次海倫到醫院做過檢查，醫生推測說海倫有可能早產或難產，沒想到離預產期還有一個多月，醫生的推測就應驗了。喬治知道，如果不能及時去醫院，恐怕母子不保。
“親愛的，別擔心，我馬上就趕回去！”時間就是生命，喬治扔下手機，立刻掉轉吉普車往回趕。
這時，有人突然從後邊大喊著追了上來，並繞到前面，撲到了車頭上。
攔車的是個中年黑人，他哭喪著臉哀求道：“先生，求求你，救救我兒子吧！”
原來，他叫安東尼，今天天氣晴朗，他帶妻子和兒子出來郊遊。
沒想到，不幸從天而降——安東尼的越野車由於刹車失靈，竟從山道上滾下了穀底！安東尼9歲的兒子因為頑皮，沒有繫安全帶，此刻生命垂危，安東尼夫婦則只是一點點擦傷。
喬治知道，從這裡去鎮上只有20多公里，可是如果先回家接上妻子再到鎮醫院的話，路程就長了！
喬治陷入了難以抉擇的境地——倘若他幫助安東尼，那妻子海倫就有生命危險，可要是先折回去接海倫，安東尼的兒子就可能因為時間耽擱太長失血而亡。
就在喬治猶豫不決時，安東尼竟然雙膝一軟，跪在了車前。
喬治真想告訴安東尼，自己的妻子也正處在危險中，但他還是從車上走下來，一把將安東尼拉起來：“你兒子在哪兒？”
安東尼立刻帶喬治來到前邊不遠處，從山道邊往下看，果然有一輛越野車翻倒在山谷下面，一個男孩兒正躺在地上。
兩人走下去，喬治俯身看了看，小男孩兒渾身是血，臉色蒼白，顯然是失血過多，而身上和腿上多處重創還在不斷地流血，喬治只看了一眼就再也看不下去了。
安東尼帶著哭腔告訴他：“雖然已經打了急救電話，但是救護車來回一趟會多花一半的時間，到那時只怕孩子就沒救了！”
車禍發生後，他和妻子分頭行動，他守在山道上等車，而他的妻子則抄山道小路趕去了最近的村莊。
喬治一聽，暗叫不妙，他知道從這兒橫穿一座山嶺，最近的就是他的家，附近除了他們根本就沒有鄰居，只有他有一輛吉普車。
“快把孩子弄上車！”喬治高聲喊道。經過一番思想鬥爭，他終於做出了這個艱難的選擇——救安東尼的孩子！安東尼連忙把孩子抱起來，喬治啟動吉普車，飛快地向鎮醫院方向趕去。
他一邊開車，一邊抓起手機，不斷撥打家裡的電話，希望能通過電波鼓勵海倫堅持住。第一次，電話通了，海倫痛苦的呻吟聲像針一樣紮在喬治的心裡：“你在哪兒？”
喬治強忍著眼淚說：“親愛的，對不起，你再堅持一會兒。”
隔了十幾分鐘，喬治第二次撥打家裡的電話，海倫的聲音已經十分微弱。喬治強忍著眼淚，不斷地對著聽筒呢喃：“親愛的，原諒我，我不能見死不救，願上帝保佑……”
因為爭取了足夠的時間，安東尼的兒子很快脫離了生命危險。而此時的喬治，雖有一絲寬慰，但更多的是對妻子的擔心。
他第三次撥打了家裡的電話，但這一次沒有人接聽！
淚水瞬間從他的眼睛裡滾落下來，他知道，沒人接電話，很可能是海倫已經出了意外！
喬治發瘋一樣地往家裡趕，安東尼也執意跟著上了車。
喬治一路上風馳電掣。
快到家門口時，他們突然聽到哇哇的嬰兒啼哭聲。
喬治第一個衝了進去，看到的是這樣一幅畫面——他的妻子海倫平安無恙地睡在床上，身上蓋著被子，床頭的繈褓裡躺著剛生下不久的可愛嬰孩兒，而床邊守著的是個一臉疲憊的婦女，她正輕聲哄著孩子。
喬治又驚又喜。
這時，跟進來的安東尼走過去，一把抱住那位婦女，激動地告訴她：“親愛的，我們要感謝喬治的幫助，我們的兒子沒事了！”安東尼一五一十將兒子獲救的經過講了一遍。
原來她就是安東尼的妻子瑪麗。
瑪麗是個婦產科醫生，出車禍後，她抄山道近路，原本是想到這裡找車的。
在經過喬治家門前時，聽到了海倫痛苦的呻吟，進去一看，發現海倫胎位不正，又是早產，如果不進行專業的接產，必定會有生命危險。
“對不起，喬治。”瑪麗有些歉疚地說，“當時我很難選擇，不知道是先救海倫，還是先為兒子繼續找車，好在最後一刻我沒有選錯。”
喬治淚花閃動，卻是臉上一紅：“說對不起的應該是我，當時安東尼向我求助時，我也猶豫不決。”
“可我們最後都沒有違背良心。”安東尼總結說。
喬治俯身看看已經熟睡的海倫，又看看襁褓中可愛的嬰孩兒，流下了幸福的眼淚。
冥冥中，上天自有安排！
