一位大老闆買下了一大座美麗的花園，佔地非常的廣，他預計要僱用12位園丁來照顧，登報招考後，應徵信件如雪片般飛來，總共有數百封之多。
大老闆讓執行秘書全權負責這件事，秘書經過初步篩選後，通知了50個人前來面試，並交待他們要穿著平日穿的工作褲過來。
面試當日由執行秘書擔任主試官，進到考場，只見執行秘書不發一語地看了看應徵者，再看看他們穿來的工作褲，就打下了分數。
最後錄取的12個人被通知來上班了，工作間竊竊私語著，大家實在忍不住好奇心，推派代表跑去問執行秘書：「到底是什麼原因能夠被錄取？」
執行祕書笑著回答說：「沒什麼，我主要是看看工作褲上有沒有補丁？還有補丁的位置在什麼地方？你們的補丁都在膝蓋上，所以我就決定錄用，如果補丁是在臀部上，我是絕對不用的！」
