有一個人，從小就擔心晚上睡覺時，有人會躲在床底下。
因此去看心理醫師，告訴他：「我很困擾。每天晚上上床睡覺時，總是擔心有人躲在我的床底下。我怕得快發瘋了。」
心理醫師慈祥的對他說：「放心的交在我手上吧。只要一年時間，每週來我診所看診三次，應該可以找出原因，去除你的恐懼。」
他問：「請問診費如何？」
心理醫師說：「每次250元。」
他說：「讓我回去想想看。」
六個月後，心理醫師在街上遇到了他。
心理醫師問他：「怎麼都沒到我診所來治療你的恐懼症？」
他說：「是這樣的，一次250元，每週三次，一年要3萬9千元，這是個不小的數目。沒想到，我只花了300元，一位酒保就趕走了我的恐懼。於是我把省下來的錢拿去買一部全新又漂亮的摩托車。」
心理醫師面帶著些許敵意的問道：「真的？可以告訴我，酒保怎麼治癒你的恐懼？」
他說：「酒保告訴我，把床腳鋸掉，就不會有人躲到你床底下了。」
