有一個農民在翻越一座山時，被一個土匪撞見。
農民嚇得躲進了一個山洞，土匪也窮追不捨地跟進了山洞。
但農民當然沒有土匪身手敏捷，最終還是被土匪抓住了。
農民遭到了一頓毒打，還被搶走了身上所有的錢財，包括一盞夜間照明用的燈。
土匪不許農民跟著自己出山洞，命令農民第二天再走，農民就老老實實地待在了原地。
這山洞千迴百轉，極深極黑，且洞中有洞，縱橫交錯，活像一個地下迷宮。
土匪暗自高興自己從農民那裡搶來了照明燈⋯⋯，於是他藉著亮光在洞中行走。光亮使他能看清腳下的石塊、周圍的石壁，雖然他不會碰壁，不會被石塊絆倒，但是，他走來走去，卻總是走不出這個洞，反而越走越深。
老實的農民等了很久，才開始出山洞。
沒有照明，農民就摸黑行走，他在黑暗中摸索，行走得十分艱辛。
他不時碰壁，還不時被石塊絆倒，弄得渾身很髒，到處是傷。
但傷痛并沒有讓他失去希望，他一步步慢慢地行走著。
正因為他置身於一片黑暗中，所以他的眼睛就更為敏銳，能夠感受到洞口透進來的微弱的光線。他迎著這縷微光摸索爬行，最終找到了出口，逃離了山洞。
誠如許多身處黑暗困境的人，雖然磕磕碰碰，歷經各種磨難，但最終走向了成功；而另一些人往往被眼前的光明迷失了前進的方向，所以終身與成功無緣。
每個人都會經歷人生的黑暗期，這些黑暗就是挫折和困難，它打擊我們的自信，讓我們聽不到激勵人心的話、讓我們看不清前方的路，但只要希望之火不滅，就會信念永存。困境會磨礪人的意志，練就人的謹慎細心，也磨煉了人對成功的無限渴望。
所以，困境就像黑暗，雖然每個人都不喜歡，但它卻是一筆財富，困境中的人比一帆風順的人更容易邁向成功，更容易聽到成功的呼喚，就像黑暗中的人更容易感受光明的指引一樣。當我們困惑時、當我們身處逆境時，我們要不停地跟自己說：只要希望之火不滅，就一定能擺脫現狀！
所以，每當逆境出現，我們更加不能喪失希望，而是要鼓勵自己堅持走下去。因為逆境是賦予我們尋找自我價值的大好機會，黑暗中我們更能爆發潛力，衝破重圍。我們只要專注於尋找出路，並相信自己，就必定可以跳出這個困局，就必定會摸索到機會，把危機化為轉機。 如果我們被黑暗蒙蔽了雙眼，失去了信念，放棄了自己的希望，那我們就永遠逃不出黑暗的魔爪。
人一生會遇到很多逆境，但每遭受一次挫折，我們對生活的認識會更全面一點；每失敗一次，對成功的覺悟會提高一階；每不幸一次，對快樂的內涵會深刻一層。
成功的人往往在順境中心存感恩，在逆境中心存希望！
