有一則寓言故事如是說—-
◎輪扁的故事：
在春秋戰國時代，
齊桓公有一次在堂上讀書，修車師傅輪扁正在堂前做車輪。
輪扁放下了刀子和鑿子，問齊桓公說：「請問大王讀的是甚麼書啊？」
齊桓公說：「我讀的是聖人治國平天下的經典呀！」
輪扁說：「那麼作書的聖人現在還在嗎？」
齊桓公說：「早就死了啊！」
輪扁聽了就嘆息道：「那您所讀的書，不過是古人的垃圾而已。」
齊桓公聽了大怒：「你說甚麼？你講個道理給我聽聽！如果你是胡說八道，我就把你處死！」
輪扁說：「請暫息怒，聽我說吧！我是個做車輪的人，就讓我用做車輪的道理來做個比喻。做車輪的時候，刀子下得快，感覺省時省力，但是做的車輪不圓；刀子下得慢，比較費時費力，但車輪削得比較圓。做車輪最好的技術是：下刀的時候不快不慢、拿捏得當。但這不快不慢、拿捏得當的功夫，我卻很難直接用語言或文字傳授給我的兒子和徒弟。連做車輪這件事都已經是如此了，更何況是治國平天下的大事呢？這樣看來，古代聖人的大道理是無法以書本而流傳下來的，那麼您所讀的書，不就是古人的垃圾嗎？」
◎ 啟示：
由書本上得到的，是知識，由經驗教訓裡面產生的，才是智慧。
- 知識是別人留下的學問和道理，智慧則是自身體驗後留下的觀照能力；因此若僅以書上學到的知識直接去處理事情，難免會有牛頭不對馬嘴之憾，而唯有經自己身體力行所認證的智慧，才能刻骨銘心，方能多方觀照，做事才能圓滿順暢，面面俱到。
- 書本上得到的知識就像我們吃進來的食物，要經過身體消化吸收後，也就是在生活上實際運用、鍛鍊打造之後，才能轉化為生命能量，才會成為智慧的結晶。所以說，有知識的人不一定有智慧，但是有智慧的人一定擁有知識，我們一定要透過「身體體驗」，才能提昇人生的心靈高度。

因為欠缺靈性的人格教育，只會造就有智慧的惡魔。
